If you read last week’s Outfit Inspiration post, then you know about my 80s music parenting win! Since I am still on a high from that incident, I decided to keep the 80s vibe going this week with inspiration from Paula Abdul’s Opposites Attract. I am not typically one to wear a lot of winter white and I gravitate towards mostly black in my wardrobe during colder months. For this week’s outfits I decided to style two light, neutral winter outfits and three that are mostly black. In this case, I think opposites really do attract and these outfits give you a chance to play with dark and light in the same week. Read on for details!

Monday

Feel Like a Million Bucks:

This jacket is like a compliment magnet. Anytime I wear it I am guaranteed to have people tell me how much they love it. Best of all, though, is the affordable price tag for such a great statement piece. These Levi’s jeans are my favorite pair of high-waisted skinnies because the rise hits the perfect spot on the waist and the thicker denim holds everything in just right! I am such a fan of the mule trend that has been going strong for several months and this pair with bows are so easy to slip on with jeans and any top in your closet! No pinching, no blisters…my favorite kind of shoes!

Where to Wear:

Running errands, Volunteering at school, Meeting with teacher, Lunch with friends

Make it Unique:

This jacket would look great layered over the black dress in Friday’s outfit for this week with a pair of black over the knee boots. You could also change up the layers and try black jeans with a white T-shirt under the jacket.

Tuesday

Feel Like a Million Bucks:

I tend to wear a lot of black during the winter, but this year I have been trying to branch out and incorporate more winter white into my wardrobe.  I love keeping an entire outfit neutral and then adding one pop of pattern like my leopard print boots. You could achieve the same concept with a printed scarf or bag as well. The slouchy fit of this sweater perfectly balances with the straight fit of the suede skirt and the entire look feels cozy and unfussy.

Where to Wear:

Lunch with friends, Meeting with teacher, Date night, Girl’s night out, Pop concert, Shopping

Make it Unique:

For an easier daytime look, switch out my leopard boots for a pair of leopard flats. When temperatures drop and a skirt just won’t do, try wearing a pair of blue or white jeans with this look.

Wednesday

Feel Like a Million Bucks:

I love the unique patchwork design on this gray and white cardigan and I love that it is long enough to cover my bum! Since the cardigan is the star of the show in this outfit, a simple white cami and jeans are the perfect base layer with over the knee boots. These boots are incredibly affordable and while I wouldn’t wear them for a full day of walking, they are fine for short periods of time. This pair of skinny jeans are my favorite for layering under over the knee boots because they are tight all the way to the ankle and they are thin denim so they don’t bunch around the knees!

Where to Wear:

Lunch with friends, Running errands, Meeting with teacher, Country music concert, Thanksgiving meal

Make it Unique:

A pair of flat over the knee boots would be perfect with this outfit for a long day of running errands or shopping. You can also wear a pair of ballet flats or mules when the weather is a little warmer.

Thursday

Feel Like a Million Bucks:

I am really loving oversized, fuzzy sweaters this season because they make me feel like I am wrapped up in a big blanket. This one sold out really quickly, but I linked several other similar sweaters that I absolutely love. I like to balance a shorter, baggy sweater like this one with a straight leg pair of jeans that isn’t super skinny, but not falling off the hips. This pair of Levi’s has quickly become my go-to this season because I feel like they make my hips look a little smaller than a regular pair of skinnies. This pair is also the perfect length to wear with short sock boots. These are my favorite because they have a heel that is low enough to wear for long periods of time without suffering from aching feet!

Where to Wear:

Shopping, Lunch with friends, Volunteering at school, Meeting with teacher

Make it Unique:

For a dressier look, this sweater would look great with black mini skirt and over the knee boots or with black jeans and heels. You can also switch out my boots for a pair of black mules like I am wearing in Monday’s outfit this week.

Friday

Feel Like a Million Bucks:

This dress has been on major repeat in my wardrobe recently and I loved it so much that I bought it in black and gray. A simple solid colored dress is such a great base layer for adding different colored scarves, vest, and jackets. I am particularly fond of black and camel together this year, so I added this vest that has been hanging in my closet for many years. I couldn’t find any vests like this one to link for you, but I found some amazing camel scarves and sweaters that you could layer over your own black dress. These exact boots will be linked and they were made for walking, which is a must for me! I wore them for a full night out in Fort Worth a few weeks ago and they were comfortable all night. I love an outfit that looks dressier than it feels!

Where to Wear:

Work meeting, Shopping, Thanksgiving Meal, Meeting with teacher, Date night, Country music concert, Lunch with friends

Make it Unique:

I have linked a camel sweater that I think would look amazing with this dress if you don’t have a vest like this one. This outfit would also look great with a pair of over the knee boots or heels for a date night look!
