Outfit Inspiration for Women

When I stepped back and looked at my compilation of outfits this week, all I could think was “so many bright colors!” And that made me immensely happy because I am a color-loving girl😍 The bright pink of my Leith sweater, the deep, rich green of my Topshop coat, the festive red of my bow mules….these are the pieces in my closet that I keep coming back to and feel the most “me.” I absolutely love women who stick to entirely neutral color palettes, but I need a little more excitement in my middle-aged life!

With that in mind, I decided to use Echosmith’s Bright as my title for this week’s group of outfits. It is such a happy song all about the unimportant things in life fading away and focusing on the positive, which just so happens to be one of my resolutions for 2018. Hopefully the bright colors in these photos will inspire you to try a new look or at least try to block out the negativity of daily life and focus on what shines bright in your life!

The easiest way to elevate your basic leggings and sweater outfit? Add a fabulous faux leather jacket and a festive plaid scarf! Wear a pair of over the knee boots and you suddenly look completely pulled together without trying too hard! These leggings are the absolute most comfortable pair of leggings you will ever wear and I have linked several pairs of over the knee boots at different price points. My sweater and scarf are one that I have had for a long time, but they are closet staples that never go out of style!

Where to Wear:

Running Errands, Volunteering at school, Work meeting, Lunch with friends, Meeting with teacher, Date Night, Pop Concert, Girl’s night out

Make it Unique:

Flat over the knee boots are a great option with this outfit on days when you will be doing a lot of walking.

Red Plaid Shirt Red Mules Gucci Bag

Top: Similar & Similar (Under $50!)| Jeans: Levi’s | Shoes: BP | Bag: Gucci & Affordable option (LOVE this one!!)| Earrings: Baublebar

Feel Like a Million Bucks:

Nothing says comfortable like a flannel button-down, loose girlfriend jeans, and a pair of backless mules! This outfit is made for my girls who want to look cute, but don’t want to die tryin😂 These Levi’s jeans have been a favorite addition to my closet this season because they embrace the baggier, boyfriend jean trend without hanging off the hips and looking ridiculous. The flannel button-down is one top that women of all ages and sizes can embrace….my daughter and I interchange these tops all the time! I like to do a simple front tuck with a loose shirt like this so my waist is still slightly defined. Finish your look off with a fun pair of red mules that are as comfortable as they are cute!

Where to Wear:

Running errands, Volunteering at school, Meeting with teacher, Lunch with friends, Shopping, Casual Christmas party

Make it Unique:

For the ultimate in casual comfort, switch out my mules for a pair of white sneakers like this one!

Wednesday

Green Coat Polka Dot Top

Top: Similar & Similar (In my cart!!)| Jeans: Madewell & Similar | Coat: Similar & Similar | Shoes: Amazon & Similar

Feel Like a Million Bucks:

I bought this coat last year when we found out that we would be spending St. Patrick’s Day in Dublin, Ireland and I knew I wanted to look festive but cute. Unfortunately, this family of Texans was completely unprepared for the 30-some degree weather that we had to stand in waiting for hours for the parade to start and we nearly froze to death! BUT, this green coat has still proven to be a fantastic addition to my wardrobe, if not a great insulator for withstanding freezing temperatures and whipping wind. There is something about the classic combination of black and white that I love paired with a beautiful, rich green color. I own a closet full of classic button-down tops in every different color and print because they are a timeless staple that is easy to throw on when you are short on time or inspiration. I am having a serious love affair with these jeans right now because the fit is just so good and I love the wash and the button detail! And in perhaps one of my greatest shopping finds ever, I bought these bow mules on Amazon for ridiculous cheap and I get compliments every time I wear them. I couldn’t find this exact brand still on Amazon, but I linked a very similar pair for an equally ridiculous price!

Where to Wear:

Running errands, Volunteering at school, Meeting with teacher, Shopping, St. Patrick’s Day (in Texas😜)

Make it Unique:

You can layer any black and white shirt you own under a bright green jacket like this one! If you want to dress this look up, switch out my mules for a pair of black heels.

Thursday

Pink Sweater Free People Teddy Coat

Sweater: Leith | Jeans: Madewell & Similar | Boots: Kendall + Kylie | Coat: Free People & Similar | Bag: Gucci & Affordable option

Feel Like a Million Bucks:

I came across this sweater when I was at Nordstrom last week and I was instantly drawn to the bright pink color. Add the strong sleeve detail and I was sold! I love a sweater with special details like this one because it stands out and doesn’t need much to complete the look. Because it is on the shorter side, I paired it with my favorite high waisted jeans to keep the proportions looking balanced. These boots are one of my favorite closet additions this winter and they are now on sale for almost 50% off!!

Where to Wear:

Running Errands, Volunteering at school, Work meeting, Lunch with friends, Meeting with teacher, Date Night, Movie Theater, Shopping

Make it Unique:

I linked several alternatives to my sweater for anyone who may want the bright pink color, but something a bit longer or with less fanfare! For a fantastic date night look, trade out my tan boots for a pair of heels in either nude or blush.

Friday

Teddy Coat Black Jeans

Coat : Free People | Top: Similar & Similar | Jeans: American Eagle & Similar | Boots: Marc Fisher | Bag: Gucci & Affordable option

Feel Like a Million Bucks:

This coat is not only cute, but it is seriously warm! I have found myself reaching for it over and over again in the last couple of weeks because it just layers so easily over practically everything in my closet. For this look, I decided to keep most of my look dark and contrast it with the light color of the teddy coat. These Marc Fisher boots have been in my closet for several years and they are excellent for long days on your feet. They have a very low heel and pointy toe that gives them a refined appearance, but they really are very comfortable. I love a good long sleeved striped tee and I linked one that is $25! I also linked a couple of affordable handbag options that I think are really beautiful!

Where to Wear:

Running Errands, Volunteering at school, Work meeting, Lunch with friends, Meeting with teacher, Movie theater

Make it Unique:

You can switch my black jeans out for blue jeans for another look that I love!
